The Rev. Christian Iwuagwu
Fr. Christian Ikechukwu Iwuagwu was born on May 27, 1966, to Mr. and Mrs. Benedict Iwuagwu of Imo State Nigeria. He is the youngest of the five children of his parents. He has two brothers and two sisters. His parents are of blessed memories. His early life into the Catholic Priesthood was strongly nurtured by his father who made much of religious impact in his life. He lost his mother at a tender age of one year and six months.
He entered the minor seminary at the age of fourteen and successfully completed his studies and was among the very few selected for the senior seminary .
Fr, Iwuagwu was sent to St, Joseph Major Seminary in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria for four years Bachelors degree studies in Philosophy.( B. PHIL)1991. After graduation, he had a year of pastoral experience as part of the program of priestly formation for the Church in Nigeria. He entered the Seat of Wisdom major Seminary for another four years Degree studies in Theology(B.D) 1996. Both Institutions are affiliates of Pontifical Urban University , Rome. On July 6th 1996, he was ordained to the priesthood of Jesus Christ for the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri., Nigeria.
Before coming to the Diocese of Belleville, Fr. Iwuagwu served his diocese in different capacities, both as a pastor of four different parishes, and as a director of agricultural project of his diocese. He holds a diploma certificate in agricultural production from Songhai Institute Republic Du Benin.
Fr. Iwuagwu arrived in the Diocese of Belleville at the invitation of Bishop Braxton as a Fidel Donum Priest in June 2019, to support the priestly ministry in the Diocese. He has been working as the Parochial Vicar at the St Kateri Tekakwitha Ridgway and the Holy family Churches of St, Mary’s Eldorado, St. Mary’s Harrisburg and St, Joseph’s Elizabethtown. He is also the assistant Chaplain at Camp Ondessonk
